The first time I pulled into Tyrol Basin I thought, wow, this is where it's at. I've lived throughout the west, rode world class parks, and lived the mountain lifestyle. I do however hail from the bitter cold, mountain-less, rail-heaven that is the Midwest. That being said I decided to come home and let life mellow out. Tyrol Basin, in my opinion, is home to the Midwest's Park Scene. Starting with Don McKay, who was the first in the Midwest to build a half pipe and welcome snowboarders with open arms. And when I say build, I mean with shovels, literally.
Fast forward to present day. Under the direction of park skier, GM Josh Faber, and our new Park Crew Manager Collin Switzky, and groomer Jared Hochmuth, the Tyrol Basin Parks has in my opinion maintained its aura. I feel lucky to call Tyrol Basin my home. As Mother Nature allows, we plan to keep pushing the rail scene with a great progression from gromlet boxes to pro-level combos, as well as pushing large snow features whether jumps, hips, or quarter pipes. So everyone do your best snow dance and be sure to come shred Tyrol Basin Parks! –M.C.
